A Very Personal Introduction
I believe that my story is common, so I decided to publicly share it.
I was 29 and living in one of the best cities to venture out for a nice meal: Los Angeles, CA. Traffic and everyday life absorbed time that could have been used for healthy cooking and working out. But to be honest, the real reason I did not adopt healthy habits was because of my depleted energy levels.
I moved from LA to Dallas, TX and the time sitting in traffic transformed into a longer commute due to a longer distance travelled to and from work despite the lack of traffic. My excuse of sitting in the car was still fully in use.
One day I went to the doctor's office and did the obligatory step on the scale only for a jolt to rush down my stomach. As a 5'4" woman, I've always been accustomed to the scale saying 145 to me; however, this time around, the scale read 192. I couldn't believe it. It got worse. My labs came back with sky-high cholesterol levels that resulted in a prescription.
I needed a change but that didn't happen until a very unfortunate situation unfolded: the pandemic. As a risk adverse person, my tolerance for the risk associated with continuing life as normal was very low. As a result, I spent quite a bit of time inside and I created indoor gardens to help with the time indoors. My indoor garden initiated the change that I needed. The more green that was produced by my garden, the more I wanted to incorporate it into my life.
My garden did wonders for my adoption of healthier habits but I needed more. I decided to adopt a low carb diet with a focus on healthy fats. I dropped to 165 but I needed more results. I'm now under 160 thanks to the combination of a true, clean keto diet and intermittent fasting. More importantly, I have more energy than I've ever had before. I'm eating less and feeling more satiated. I kicked sugar and carbs, and I've never felt better.
My journey is continuing and I hope you follow me along on the ride - hopefully my story can help shed light on some options that exist out there. I plan on leaving meaningful and honest reviews for products and sharing things that did and did not work for me.
Until next time….
